I hired Ed at Grand Union, as much for his portfolio of creative work as his development experience. He proved himself to be a cornerstone of our team, a reliable and level head, principled and with fantastic attention to detail. I sincerely hope we work together again.
I work with Edward in his capacity as a Flash Developer at Research Now. I took on responsibility for the team he was on when the manager departed. I've found Ed to be a very capable developer in many languages/technologies who understands our business and more importantly is keen to make change for the better. Ed is also a quick learner. To whom it may concern: I am writing this reference letter in support of Edward Minnett, who I know from my teaching position in the School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture at the University of British Columbia. In the Spring of 2009 Edward was enrolled in a course I teach entitled Architectural Technology I within the Environmental Design program. He was a good student, receiving a final grade of 84% in the course. The course required the students to develop an understanding of how buildings were assembled and most assignments involved presenting this information in graphic format. Edward always produced particularly clear drawings showing a good knowledge of building construction. His final assignment, which involved a small design project, was very innovative and demonstrated that he was able to apply his knowledge thoughtfully to unbuilt work. On a number of occasions outside of class I had the opportunity to discuss with Edward particular technical issues related to his studio or personal work. He showed a keen interest in furthering his knowledge, particularly in the area of building envelope performance, a major concern in colder climates such as those found in many locations across Canada. Edward is very proficient in his graphic skills, a discipline which he has obviously pursued since his graduation from UBC. In addition, I find him to be very self-motivated and eager to expand his knowledge in other areas. I would have no hesitation in supporting his application for employment, as I know he would be a skilled and dedicated employee.
Edward brings a clear and forward thinking attitude to design, while offering useful input on other's work. He continues to be a great resource to me for applied IT information, as I rely on his advice when proposing web work to my clients. Edward realized my concept design for the Wines of Argentina website (www.winesofargentina.ca), which Edward continues to evolve and maintain. Edward is a keen student of the world around him and has an insatiable appetite for understanding new ideas. I recommend Ed for any project or position for which he applies.
Edward and I researched and developed designs for Norquay Village in Vancouver, British Columbia. I have also personally consulted Edward for web design related issues and have found him exceptionally resourceful. He has provided valuable insight during design charettes.
